8 Ways to Build Exercise Habits 8. October 2015 Megan Hodde 0 comments One of the ways to make exercise truly effective is to, well, do it. Yet, this seems to be the hardest thing to to accomplish for various reasons. However, by making exercise a habit, it can become something that you not only do regularly, but something you really enjoy and look forward to. 1. Set your goal What do you want to achieve? WRITE IT DOWN!! Start with one goal, once attained, go to 2nd goal. 2. Set a Deadline Write it somewhere you can see it multiple times a day 3. Make a plan How will you do it? Get specific: exercise 5 days/week, 3 L water/day…. 4. Exercise first thing in the AM If you know you struggle after work (family duties, dinner, and fatigue) and tend to easily give into excuses, then knock it out in the morning. 5. Stick to your Plan Sometime the days you don’t feel like exercising, turn into your best efforts. Even if you don’t feel 100%, put on your workout clothes and try something. The more you exercise, the more you build the habit. 30 days = Exercise Habit!! 6. Train with someone who has the exercise habit A good training partner will motivate you and help you achieve your goals 7. Talk about it I’m personally motivated by hearing other people talk about their workouts, seeing their physical changes and fun pictures, and reading about their endeavors. I like to post about my workouts, desires, goals and adventures for 2 reasons: I hope I can motivate others to start or maintain their healthy lifestyle AND it keeps me accountable.8.
